The township was officially formed in 1836 and was made up of the territories now known as Marion Township, Oceola Township, and the City of Howell. The Township and the Village were both named after Thomas Howell, a son of Judge Howell of Canadaigua, N.Y. Many of the roads and streets in the area are named after the first settlers. Major - 15 - 17 year olds (now 17U)- Need to be able to pitch, field and bat games start after memorial day and may have to travel.Howell Township was settled in 1834 by pioneers coming from the New York State area. At that time, the inhabitants were Native Americans, living in log huts and wigwams. The Native Americans were very helpful to the settlers. Minor - 12 - 14 year olds (now 14U)- Should be able to pitch, field, bat and understand how the game is played, focus on improving skills in positions Midget - 10 - 11 year olds (now 11U)- learn fundamentals of baseball, should be able to pitch, field and bat T-ball - 4 - 5 year olds - learn fundamentals of baseball, will hit off a tee and play infield try to limit to 6-8 playersĬoach Pitch - 6 - 7 year olds - learn fundamentals of baseball, focus on fielding and batting no postseason tournament, but will have all star gameīantam - 8 - 9 year olds (now 9U) - learn fundamentals of baseball, focus on pitching, fielding and batting goal is to give every child an opportunity to pitch. *For Fall Baseball, it is recommended that your child registers for the division they will be in Spring 2024. Registration for Baseball is based on your child's age on May 1st. Softball is based on your child's age on January 1st.
